First Australian Research Project: Does the “Coronary Health Improvement Program” in rural Australia work as successfully as those in the urban American environment. Programs have been run by Gavin Dagg & Mark Haslam in 2008 and 2009.
The first two programs were held in Lockyer Valley area - Gatton & Laidley with 30 participants each, funded by “West Moreton Division of GP's”
A Third program Funded by “Rural Health” ran earlier this year with 26 participants for a total of 86 participants in the first phase of the research.
The next program commences mid August 2009 at the Toowoomba TAFE college, with 32 participants registered.
The Research Paper will be written by Professor Robert Bush from the Healthy Lifestyle Research Institute at the University of Queensland This research study has on staff individuals from three universities in Australia and a two doctors from the USA. Soon be adding is a “Qualitative Research Pilot Study” headed by Professor Esther Chang from the University of Western Sydney and President of the Lifestyle Medicine Institute of Australia.
Based on the research with the pilot programs, Professor Bush and Professor Chang are interested in applying for a larger national chip research grant targeted for next year. The national study would hope to bring Dr. Diehl to Australia to run a live non video based program.
